Blue Planet Visions

Imagination for Blue Planet Visions empowers young people in Liechtenstein, Germany and Norway to reclaim futures thinking in times of AI-driven narratives and dystopian social imaginaries.

Through critical AI literacy labs and art-based Blue Planet Studios, youth co-create scenarios, stories and prototypes for regenerative water futures. World Climate School, Integrity.Earth and IFAI jointly develop an open toolkit and digital resource hub so schools and youth organisations can replicate the approach across Europe.

> Reclaiming Futures in Times of AI and Dystopian Social Worlds*

# Context Across Europe, young people are navigating overlapping crises: ecological breakdown, polarisation, and a rapid AI-driven media landscape. Futures are frequently framed through dystopian narratives or techno-determinist promises, which can weaken civic agency and imagination.

This project proposes imagination as a democratic capability: a learnable skill that helps young people sensemake complexity, build futures literacy, and co-create ‘Blue Planet’ visions grounded in water/ocean literacy, solidarity, and regenerative values.

# **Added Value of Transnational Cooperation** Liechtenstein, Germany and Norway provide complementary ecosystems: a small-state rapid stakeholder loop (Liechtenstein), a metropolitan creative and civic-innovation context (Germany), and a strong climate education school network (Norway). Together, partners can validate the method across different contexts and produce scalable resources with clear European added value.
